About me 

Sarah Ladd is an award-winning Kentucky journalist with five years of professional experience. She has reported internationally as well as domestically with bylines in News from the States, kentuckylantern.com, USA Today, The Courier Journal and more. 

 

She currently works for the States Newsroom network. She is stationed in Frankfort, where she covers health and health policy for the Kentucky Lantern. 

 

Her work was honored, along with other reporting in the Courier Journal newsroom, with 2021 Pulitzer Prize finalist awards in Public Service and Breaking News for coverage of Breonna Taylor’s death and the subsequent protests in Louisville.

Before her time at The Courier Journal, Sarah attended the University of Kentucky and West Kentucky Community and Technical College as a first-generation college student and the first woman in her family to pursue higher education.  

She earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction writing from Spalding University's low residency program. Her thesis was a memoir about a Kentucky childhood on her family's farm. 

She is an adjunct teacher at her first alma mater, WKCTC. Sarah is also a regular panelist on Kentucky Educational Television's Comment on Kentucky show. 

 

Sarah lives in Louisville, Kentucky.
