About me 

Sarah Ladd (she/her) is an award-winning Kentucky journalist with three years of professional experience. She has reported internationally as well as domestically with bylines in USA Today, The Courier Journal and courierjournal.com.

 

She currently works for States Newsroom.

 

Her work was honored, along with other reporting in the Courier Journal newsroom, with 2021 Pulitzer Prize finalist awards in Public Service and Breaking News for coverage of Breonna Taylor’s death and the subsequent protests in Louisville. Since December 2020, Sarah’s reporting has focused almost exclusively on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before her time at The Courier Journal, Sarah attended the University of Kentucky and West Kentucky Community and Technical College as a first-generation college student and the first woman in her family to pursue higher education.  

​

She earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction writing from Spalding University's low residency program. Her thesis was a memoir about a Kentucky childhood on her family's farm. 

 

Sarah is based in Louisville, Kentucky.
